Scott Kay, purveyor of bridal, wedding, and fashion jewelry, and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) named a second-year jewelry design student, Isabelle Meyers, winner of its joint design contest. The contest challenged students to create a set of bridal jewelry that included three pieces from a set of four pieces Scott Kay already produces: a ring, a bracelet, a necklace, and a pair of earrings. Students were asked to build upon the brand’s original design and create the items. After two rounds of judging—done by a panel that included Colleen Banks, associate style editor at Martha Stewart Weddings; Ashley Davis, National Jeweler’s associate editor; and Steve Velasquez, CEO of Bailey Banks and Biddle—Isabelle Meyers was chosen as the winning designer and awarded a $3,000 prize. Meyers’ designs will be produced and will be unveiled at LUXURY at JCK in Las Vegas in June. “We had an incredible experience partnering with FIT for this design contest,” said Kelly Kahn, Scott Kay’s director of brand management. “Each student showcased excellent design skills, creativity, and extreme dedication to perfection. Scott Kay recognizes each student’s efforts and appreciates all who participated.” Francesca Bates, Shanya Amarasuriya, Ashley Volbeda, and Ruowei Cheng were also named finalists in the contests and all of their designs will be on display at FIT.
