At this year’s JCK Las Vegas show, the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) hosted an exclusive “House of Botswana” event, celebrating the Southern African nation’s profound legacy in natural diamonds. Held at the Natural Diamond Club within Yardbird Table & Bar at The Venetian, the evening brought together global leaders, industry insiders, and luxury enthusiasts to honor Botswana’s enduring impact on the world of diamonds.
The event’s emotional high point came with a stirring keynote address by His Excellency President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko. Reflecting on over 50 years of progress powered by diamond revenues, President Boko emphasized the human story behind each stone:
“Botswana diamonds have built schools, roads, and hope for generations. When someone sees a natural diamond, we want them to think: This is a Botswana diamond. This is a diamond with purpose.”
Following the keynote, Paige Reddinger, Watch and Jewellery Editor at Robb Report, hosted an insightful fireside chat exploring Botswana’s evolving influence within the luxury and sustainability narratives of the global jewellery market.
The evening also featured a dynamic panel discussion led by Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals & Energy. Speaking passionately about the distinct value of natural diamonds, she stated:
“We are not in competition with synthetics—we exist in different realms. Natural diamonds represent the pinnacle of luxury, legacy, and authenticity.”
