Consumers looking for assurance and quality when shopping for diamonds, have one more tool to guide them. GIA’s “Retailer Lookup” is now available to help them search for retailers stocking GIA (Gemological Institute of America) graded diamonds and stores with GIA educated staff by city or postal code; and provides information like addresses, store hours and directions for registered stores.

This has enabled retailers round the world to get noticed by shoppers. So far, GIA said, its Retailer Lookup has 7,500 registered doors and still counting.

“So far, in 2017 we’ve seen a more than 300% increase in the number of consumers using the Lookup to find retailers, which demonstrates the appeal of GIA reports and expertise,” said Tali Nay, manager of GIA’s Retailer Support Program. “GIA’s Retailer Lookup is a great way for the gem and jewellery buying public to find retail jewellery stores carrying diamonds graded by GIA or employing GIA-trained staff.”

GIA said that over the past two years the number of registered retailers has gone up by 60%. Presently, about 42% of the participating stores are outside the U.S.

“The Retailer Lookup is part of GIA’s Retailer Support Program that provides resources for retailers to help sales staff educate consumers about the 4Cs of diamond quality and the value of a GIA report,” GIA elaborated. “As part of GIA’s effort to ensure the public trust in gems and jewellery, the Retailer Support Program offers stores large and small an array of materials to help them educate their customers.”

As part of the programme, retailers have access to a number of tools to support their diamond sales which include authorised GIA signage, educational counter displays and brochures to bring authoritative GIA information about diamonds, coloured stones and pearls into the conversation at the counter. The programme also provides free videos, images, logos and interactive downloads that can be used in advertising, and on a retailer’s website and social media pages, GIA explained. What is more, the Retailer Support Program offers retailers training resources, including a series of training modules for their staff.

“We are proud to be part of GIA’s Retailer Support Program and have our name listed on the GIA website,” said Jonathan Goldberg, President and CEO of Kimberfire. “The Retailer Lookup is a valuable tool – it has opened up our customer network and helped us connect with those looking for a jeweller with our high standards, focus on quality and transparency. We are very excited about the potential for this tool to help us reach new customers and grow our brand.”
