GJEPC Strengthens Artisan Outreach with Parichay Card Camp in Bowbazar

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) conducted a Parichay Card enrolment camp at the Common Facility Centre (CFC) in Bowbazar, Kolkata, aimed at widening formal recognition for jewellery artisans in the eastern region.

The camp was inaugurated in the presence of Pankaj Parekh, Regional Chairman – East, Prakash Chandra Pincha, Regional Committee Member – East, and Samar Kumar De, Working President of the Swarna Shilpa Bachao Committee (SSBC), underscoring the industry’s collective effort to bring more craftsmen into the organised ecosystem.

Artisans from Bowbazar and surrounding jewellery clusters were able to complete on-the-spot registration for the Parichay Card while accessing services at the CFC. The initiative helped simplify enrolment and encouraged wider participation by making the process accessible within the artisans’ own work hub.

Through the Parichay Card programme, GJEPC continues to support workforce formalisation by providing artisans with official identification, access to welfare-linked benefits and stronger integration into the gem and jewellery value chain. The Bowbazar camp reflects the council’s ongoing focus on grassroots engagement and strengthening traditional jewellery clusters across India.
