Piece of the Week: Lydia Courteille’s Couture Pendant

It’s here. To many, Memorial Day Weekend signals the start of summer. But to the jewelry industry, it’s the last deep breath before we descend on Las Vegas ready to work.

At National Jeweler, we’ve already teased some sneak peeks of new jewels to see at the Couture show, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

One collection not to miss is Lydia Courteille’s delve into the dark side of Marie-Antoinette. Originally debuted at Haute joaillerie week in Paris last January, the collection presents a gothic interpretation of the romantic French Queen, who is equated with both luxury and tragedy.

This pendant with skull and crown motif, created in 18-karat gold, blue titanium, yellow and blue sapphires, and aquamarines, perfectly shows both sides of the royal’s legend.

Courteille will show the piece at booth 131 in the Lafite Ballroom.
