Rio Tinto has announced its last-ever Beyond Rare™ Tender, Into the Light, presenting an extraordinary collection of 52 diamond lots sourced from the iconic Argyle mine in Australia and the Diavik mine in Canada.
Part of Rio Tinto’s celebrated Art Series, this third edition brings together 45.44 carats of some of the world’s rarest natural treasures—pink, red, violet, yellow, and white diamonds. The curation includes six exclusive ‘Masterpieces’, 39 remarkable single stones, and seven specially designed sets. Among the highlights are a coveted GIA Fancy Red, 12 Fancy Violets, 76 Fancy Pinks, two flawless D-colour white diamonds, and a striking 6.12-carat Fancy Vivid Yellow.
With Argyle having closed its doors in 2020 and Diavik nearing its planned closure in 2026, the tender represents the final chapter in Rio Tinto’s legacy of rare diamond production. Patrick Coppens, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Rio Tinto Diamonds, reflected on the milestone:
“This collection pays tribute to two extraordinary sources of beauty—the East Kimberley of Western Australia and Canada’s Northwest Territories. No other company has ever held stewardship of such a remarkable range of diamond colours and qualities. This tender honours the dedication of the men and women who brought them to the world.”
The collection will be showcased across Hong Kong, Australia, and Antwerp, with bidding open until 20 October 2025, offering collectors and connoisseurs a last opportunity to secure pieces from a once-in-history diamond legacy
