The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), in collaboration with HRD Antwerp and the Embassy of Belgium in India, jointly organised the Indo-Belgian Diamond Forum in New Delhi. The event was hosted at the residence of the Belgian Ambassador and served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between India and Belgium in the global diamond sector.
The forum was supported by INDRA — an initiative of De Beers Group and GJEPC — with Shivam Jewels as the Diamond Partner, BVC Logistics as the Logistics Partner and Business of Jewellery as the Media Partner.
The gathering highlighted the long-standing relationship between India and Belgium in the international diamond trade. Industry leaders, policymakers, diplomats and entrepreneurs attended the event to discuss emerging trends in the gem and jewellery sector and identify new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
The forum was inaugurated in the presence of several key dignitaries, including Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to India; Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC; Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman of GJEPC; Mansukh Kothari, Convener – Events at GJEPC; Stanley De Belie, Chief Operating Officer of HRD Antwerp; and Ramakant Mitkar, Managing Director – India at HRD Antwerp.
A panel discussion during the event examined major developments shaping the global diamond and jewellery industry. Topics included shifting consumer preferences, branding strategies for natural diamonds, technological advancements and the potential for expanding Indo-Belgian trade ties.
Panelists included Shaunak Parikh, Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of GJEPC; Toranj Mehta, Vice President of Marketing at De Beers India; Priyal Shankar, Director at Shivam Jewels; Oushnik Chandra, CEO of PC Chandra Jewellers; and Ramakant Mitkar.
The session was moderated by industry analyst Prasad Kapre from Blue Sky Business Management Group, who led discussions on the future outlook for natural diamonds and global market dynamics.
Through initiatives like this forum, GJEPC aims to deepen international collaboration and further strengthen India’s position as a major hub in the global gem and jewellery industry.
