The Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC), a joint venture between the Government of Namibia and De Beers, yesterday said that following the retirement of its long-standing CEO Shihaleni Ellis Ndjaba, it had appointed Brent Eiseb, formerly NDTC’s Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing as the new CEO.

Ndjaba had held the post since NDTC was set up in 2007, after leading the government team that negotiated a new agreement with De Beers that year. Prior to that, he had held a number of senior posts in the government.

Eiseb has had an over two-decade long association with the diamond industry, having begun his career with De Beers and having held various positions both in the Group and in NDTC over the years. He was a Key Account Manager when NDTC was set up in 2007, and from 2010-13 was Head of Sales and Marketing, NDTC.

In 2013, Eiseb moved to Gaborone, Botswana as part of the sales team after the relocation of the Sales operations to Botswana, and in his role as Vice President Sales Eastern Hemisphere for De Beers Global Sightholder Sales, he led the Key Accounts Management teams for India and the Far East.

Returning to Namibia in May 2016 as Senior Manager Sales and Marketing at NDTC, a role he held till his new appointment, Eiseb played a key role in the successful implementation of the new Namibian Sorting, Valuing, Sales and Marketing Agreement. He also was one of the key individuals instrumental in driving the Namibian Beneficiation and Sales functions.

In an announcement, the Board of NDTC thanked Ndjaba for his immense contribution to the establishment and growth of NDTC and vibrant manufacturing industry in the country and congratulated Eiseb on taking charge of his new appointment.
