Forevermark Celebrates India’s Women Achievers, Showcases Latest Collections at Special Event

Forevermark, the diamond brand from De Beers Group, hosted a special event last evening to celebrate some of India’s most outstanding women achievers across a variety of disciplines, while also showcasing its Tribute and Red Carpet 2019 collections.

The evening, at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai commenced with a panel discussion titled ‘Breaking the Norms’ where prominent women achievers who provide real inspiration to countless others shared their inspiring individual journeys and challenges each faced in her chosen field.

The panel included D. Roopa – Karnataka’s first female Police Service official, currently the Inspector-General of Police, the second highest-ranked officer in Bangalore and Karnataka; Guneet Monga – Academy Award winning Indian film producer, voted as one of the top 12 women achievers in the Global Entertainment industry by The Hollywood Reporter; Ankita Raina – India’s No.1 ranked women’s singles tennis player; Dr Chitra Rajagopal, DG, DRDO, an eminent scientist and leading lady in the defence sector; and Lt Cdr Pooja Sharma who has been a naval officer for the last seven years and was part of the first all women armed forces contingent at Rajpath for Republic Day 2015.

The event also saw a showcase of exquisite jewellery from the Forevermark Tribute™ Collection, which was launched earlier this year to celebrate the richness of inherent brilliance, as well as the Red Carpet 2019 collection.

The evening culminated in a fashion showcase by renowned designer Samant Chauhan, with models wearing a selection of 48 jewellery pieces designed by 27 Forevermark authorised jewellers, as part of the Red Carpet 2019 collection. There were an assortment of cocktail rings, bracelets, palm gloves, necklaces, and chokers; all expertly crafted with rare, beautiful and ethically sourced Forevermark diamonds. An ardent supporter of female empowerment, Bollywood icon and actor Karisma Kapoor concluded the show wearing a showstopping piece from the collection.

Jain added that championing female talent is embedded in the DNA of the Forevermark brand. “With our diamonds worn predominantly by women, we recognise the very significant contribution of women to building the future of the communities where we operate”, he concluded.

Stephen Lussier, CEO of Forevermark, Executive Vice President of Marketing of De Beers Group and a member of The Group Executive Committee and Paul Rowley, Executive Vice President, Diamond Trading, De Beers Group reiterated Forevermark’s commitment to working with De Beers Group as part of their partnership with UN Women to promote gender equality across its business, its marketing campaigns and its communities.

In 2018 De Beers Group launched the AWOME programme, in partnership with UN Women, which aims to support over 1,250 women micro-entrepreneurs across South Africa, Botswana and Namibia by 2020. Additionally, De Beers Group’s university scholarship programme, also run in partnership with UN Women over three years (2017-2020), aims to sponsor the equivalent of 67 years of university studies for women in STEM subjects in Canada.
