Fancy colour diamonds continued to reign fine jewellery auctions in Hong Kong. A stunning ring with a rare pink-purple diamond by Chinese designer Cindy Chao recently sold for HK$9.1 million (US$1.17 million) at a Bonhams sale.
The ring, a piece from Chao’s Ribbon collection, is adorned with a 4.23-carat fancy pink-purple, oval-cut diamond, wrapped within a ribbon of brilliant and cushion-cut diamonds.
Other highlights of Bonhams’ Rare Jewels and Jadeite sale were a 10.02-carat no-oil emerald and diamond ring, which fetched HK$6.1 million (US$872,000), and a 10.03-carat diamond and fancy colour diamond ring by celebrated jewellery designer Stephen Webster.
The impressive ring stirred up a heated bidding and was sold for HK$3.58 million (US$459,000). The sale featured a total of 123 lots and fetched a total of HK$55,236,250 (US$7.1 million).
