India Post a Competitive Option for Gem & Jewellery Exporters, Notes GJEPC-BDB Seminar

The benefits of Import & Export of Precious Goods Through India Post were explained in an engaging seminar organised by GJEPC and Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) on 1st March at BDB. The event saw a packed room of around 100 attendees.

Guest speakers Amitabh Singh, Post Master General, BD & Mails, Maharashtra Circle and Dr. Sudhir Jakhere, APMG, BD and Technology, Maharashtra Circle gave a brief outline on the export facilitation process through the Department of Post and later answered several queries put forth by some participants.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Anoop Mehta, President, BDB, GJEPC; Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; Mehul Shah, Vice President, BDB; and Naresh Lathiya, Convener, MSME Sub-committee, GJEPC.

Singh informed that India Post now offered easy, cost-effective shipping solutions through the universal EMS Speed Post service for internationally tracked packets. The service is available in 16 major countries including important trading destinations such as the USA, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, Japan and Singapore.

He also touched upon the Custom Declaration System through Postal Bill of Exports (PBE) and highlighted the significant cost benefits of using India Post for shipments compared to global heavyweights like DHL, FedEx and AraMex.
