The Rebus gift box, an invitation for bespoke signet ring design, is the ultimate holiday gift for him.
The holidays call upon the meaningful. Treasured heirlooms are gifted—a legacy to pass on from generation to generation. Encapsulated in precious metal, signet rings have held their timeless style throughout the centuries. Used to seal important letters in wax, signify one’s family crest or heraldry, and hold symbols dear to the wearer, the signet ring is part of gentleman’s uniform, as well as his holiday tradition. Worldrenowned for craftsmanship, Rebus is the leading design atelier for bespoke signet rings in the UK. Featuring stamped, artisan carved, and hand-engraved rings, the company celebrates the art of the maker, contrary to an increasing world of mass production. This winter, the Rebus Gift Box launches as the perfect gift for those with a discerning eye for artistry. Presenting a loved one with a design journey it is the modern heirloom of the season.
“In choosing our gift box, the receiver will appreciate the thought and care given to your decision to give them a bespoke item made to exacting standards by expert craftspeople. The choice of styles and design are almost limitless, so why not give the receiver an opportunity to be involved in the process? Our gift boxes include an option to visit the workshop in person, or have a personal consultation remotely, adding a design experience to the gift,” says Emmet Smith, Founder, Rebus.
Along with elegant packaging, each Rebus Gift Box contains a guide detailing the history and meaning of the signet ring, along with precious metal and shape options available to the recipient. A placeholder ring, cast in bronze, excites the receiver, offering the sensation of the final piece. A ring sizer, ensuring a comfort fit, is also included. Following up on each gift box, a design consultation is scheduled, either at the company’s Hatton Garden showroom, during an upcoming international trunk show, or virtually.
With an archive of symbols, and years of experience developing bespoke creations, Rebus works with recipients one-on-one to conceptualize, sketch, and create each one-of-a-kind ring. Ranging from silver to 9ct.-18K gold, signet rings design concepts are hand drawn, then meticulously hand-engraved by artisans in-house. Traditionally carved in reverse, the signet ring is used as a sophisticated wax seal, an elegant touch on any letter. For those who prefer to wear the ring for its aesthetic, symbols can be carved straight on, for debonair style.
The Rebus gift box is available online here, or through select retailers. This week, Rebus is hosting a NYC trunk show, with press consultations, by appointment, at The NoMad Hotel, 1170 Broadway, New York, NY, 10001, from Thursday, October 24th through Saturday, October 26th. New York design appointments can be made via Eventbrite, or by contacting Rachel Westerman at Rachel@rebussignetrings.co.uk.
Rebus is the UK’s premier creator of hand-crafted signet rings. The company was founded by Emmet Smith in 2005 as a department within R.H. The Rebus team is made up of award winning hand engravers and goldsmiths, all with a heartfelt commitment to beautiful engraving using traditional hand tools. Over the years, R.H. Wilkins and the Rebus team have won over twenty awards, and it is a tradition to have two apprentices at any time who are indentured through Goldsmiths Hall.
